And this morning they were still making a racket. The same warm wet weather that’s spurred the tommy crocuses into bloom
has woken the amphibians. The noisemakers are tiny tree frogs that hide in the vegetation and rocky nests by the pond.
If I get too close they take a swan dive into the water. Their chirruping noise is stupendous.
This fine frog, a quieter fellow, did sit still for a photo. Buh-bye Primordial Soup – hello Froggy Bottom.
What are you doing this weekend? Why not dig a hole and fill it with water – you won’t regret it.

Happily I already have a Frog Pond – where a beaver took up residence on the bank! That was a surprise, but I’m told the entry is still underwater. No one is visible however. The pond is still covered with ice even though the landscape just has a little snow left.

There is a pond down the street from us, and I’ve heard quite the racket coming from there off and off this late winter/early spring. I love when the little frogs start appearing – a sign that spring is unfurling and the garden is growing.

How wonderful. I love hearing them and the peepers in early spring. The stray cats keep them away from my pond which is too bad. Have a wonderful weekend.

It is one of the best sounds in the world, night peepers. Do yours all stop singing at the very same second around 1am? Its like they are watching a conductor in a symphony frog orchestra or something. Charleston, unfortunately, isn’t a frog haven, but my cabin in upstate NY has cricket frogs by the bazillions.

We have frogs in our pond at the moment, not tree frods like you unfortunately, but they are making such a lot of noise with their croaking and now we have masses of frogspawn- fantastic! We seem to like Tommies both sides of the Atlantic, they are wonderful aren’t they, enticing any early bumble bees into the garden.
